krysta

Five years ago, on June 8th, 2010, Terri and Mark Rodriguez received the unimaginably painful and shattering news that their twenty-two year old daughter Krysta (second on left)  had been hit and killed by a drunk driver.

THIS is their story.

This is the link to Krysta's Karing Angles

Last week I was blessed with the opportunity to meet Terri and Mark along with Krysta's sister Dannielle, her husband Brandon, and their daughter Isabella.
Last Sunday Mark and Terri's family gave a powerful and painful presentation to the youth of the Bridgeland congregation in Houston. The Rodriguez family does these kind of presentations about twenty-five times a year.  And each time they share their story, they willing re-live and retell the horrific events of June 8th, 2010 in hopes that someone, somewhere will remember their story and make the decision to not drink and drive.

Last October, Sadie and her mission companion knocked on the Rodriguez' door hoping to share a message of love and hope.  Isabella answered the door and happily invited the missionaries inside.  Terri shared with me, that up to this point, their family had been desperately searching for some sort of peace in the middle of their unending sadness. And that ultimately, she felt like these young missionaries were sent to help their family heal.  As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we believe that our Heavenly Father created a perfect plan for us to be reunited with our families when this life is done.  We also believe that our Savior is central in this plan.  I believe families are forever. I also believe with all my heart that one day Krysta and her beautiful family will be reunited.
Thank you Rodriguez family for opening your home and your hearts to us.  It was truly an honor to spend just a few hours feeling of your incredible goodness.
